The Spirit of Summerland

The Kettle Valley Steam Railway’s Historic Locomotive 3716 now has a name…The Spirit of Summerland!  The 99year old Locomotive was featured in a naming ceremony including a special song by Matt Mays.

There were hundreds of names submitted via Channel, and a decision had to be made.

If you have ever heard the haunting sound of this locomotive’s whistle as it echoes through the fertile valleys, orchards and winery’s of Summerland overlooking Okanagan Lake and the famous Trout Creek Trestle…you know this is the right name.

If you have NOT experienced the romance of this amazing scenery, perfect weather and haunting whistle echoes off the Trout Creek Canyon…well, you are missing out!

And, if you ever wondered what it’s like to experience an old west train robbery, well, you better come to Summerland to see what “GANG” means in a small town like Summerland!
