Summerland Shakespeare Festival cancelled. The Summerland Review delicately states the reasons why. But the Review misses one important point: This event has traditionally resulted in positive economic impact for the businesses of downtown Summerland. I know Summerland businesses donated, supported and contributed to this event for the kids, but also because it resulted in positive exposure for the town, and increased foot traffic for the Main St shops. This aspect of the cancellation does not get mention by the Review. But in fact, the economics are a key reason that this cancellation is a significant disappointment.
